post-glacial

a landscape on the rebound
rising from the sea
rocks worn silken-smooth
by the retreating ice

a river changed its course
as seabeds turned to fields
and hunters left the silken rocks
to take a plow to newborn soil

when will the ice roll in
to grind the silky rocks to sand
to change the river's course
and return us to the sea

This is so visual! I could see the retreating ice, the changing of rivers, the power of nature over our planet. Simply beautiful!
