No place for angels (ii)

No place for angels

Driven away

No more blue sky

Just burning in flames.

Darkness is seeping

into the hearts

No light remaining

To highlight the scars.

No need for searching

The ashes of dreams

The voice of hope silenced

By bankrupted schemes.

No where to run to

Too many chains

Rusted out thoughts

Just twisting in pain.

Dark comes to comfort

With no sense of power

Just bleeding to death

Hour by the hour.

Who will reach out

To bring down the night

Ring the last bell

For the end of the fight.

No place for angels

In the burning sky

No place for their dreams

Because burning wings cannot fly.

A fine poem, but it fails as a lyric poem because the images are all jumbled and it fails as a narrative poem because the story's not being told properly. The ii in the title makes me think this is part of some saga or something but I'm judging it as a stand alone poem. Good day.

I have to admit this poem left me breathless with its intensity.
The post apocalyptic desolation of the heart is a very strong statement. Wow ... good one!

Apocalyptic and chilling. Let's hope those angels find a better place. Nicely written with a subtle rhythmic flow.
