Being a Poet

like shells in the trenches
it never stops
the damped sound
of meaningless speech

my ears bleed
my mind flounders
like a wounded tiger
i soldier on
not mindful of defeat

i think some people have a primal need to write, not all have the skill or ability to do it well. maybe it's an addiction. it feels that way to me.

Very powerful words, made even more so by the brevity of the poem. Love it!

The poet SHOULD - MUST , give meaningful speech. They must climb up out of the trench. Gather those out of the trench , with poets from the oposet trench , in no mans land. Both teach that we are but the same. For many , sadly , for many life is one hell of a battlefield. So much ignorance of each other. When we get to know each other. Spread the light , inform , educate. The roll of the poet is clear.
