This poem along with 5 others was inspired after reading a poem from one of our other members who had either been involved with of at least cared for a married man, you know who you are thanks for the inspiration....
In the beginning is was just a game
I mean look at her, she is beautiful
To me it was all the same
There really weren't any rules
I wasn't about to say no
And she wasn't holding out
That is one thing you should know
Not have any doubt about
Of course I knew about you
But I really didn't care
With what your wife can do
I didn't put her there
But things changed and time moved on
I got to see her other sides
She is a fantastic woman
I can understand your pride
But she wouldn't even have seen me
If there hadn't been something wrong between you
There is nothing we would have been able to be
If there hadn't been something you were going through
So I may b the symptom
But I sure as aren't the cause
So go back to step one
And see where you came of course
You think you can find your way back
I don't
I think you have left it to late
You think you can make it work
You wont
Its past the best by date.
You need time to understand
And expect me to just stand by while you try again
Like I owe it to you to follow your plan
To clear up the mess that we are all in
What I did was not right
There is no mistake about that
If you expect me to give up without a fight
Then you really don't know the facts
Two can play intimidation
Only one can come out on top
But that is definitely not our solution
So with that I recommend you stop
So now you realise what you have to loose
Well believe it or not so do I
So I think we should let her choose
At least we should let her try
You could only win back her heart
with what you could be again
And she can remember what you had at the start
Even if it turned into pain
And if that is what she wants most
Trust me she will choose it once more
Then we can bring this to a close
And you can both go back to before
So no I am not prepared to give you time
I believe in her and that she can see this
And even as a wife she may not b mine
One of us has already had her last kiss
You think I have manipulated her
Steered her to where she is today
I haven't had to
She wanted to walk astray
I believe what her & I have is real
I am not about to deny that
But I know that despite all that we feel
She's never taken off her ring & that's a fact
So while I will not give you time
It is not because I think she will walk straight into my arms
She has never been completely mine
As long as she has been wearing your golden charms
Despite the time we have had together
She may still want you
And if you still love her
Then respect her enough to let her choose
So you are right it is a gamble we both take
Trusting a woman we love
Now knowing which choice she will make
Which one of us she will have
