Long Afternoon
This is my favourite photo of you,the one in the cave on a wavy day,
with late autumn sunshine
and a sway in the way that
you looked at me, I loved that look,
what you wore, what I saw
the mien of you, in a cave
on a beach, with a long low sun.
This is my favourite thought of a day,
the blue of your shirt, dog on a lead,
head slightly bowed, the walls closing in.
You stood asking dimensions, light
and exposure, exposing me
to the flame in your hair, the blue
of your shirt, dousing, carousing
on a long afternoon,
last autumn one day.
