Home for Tonight

The town Inn
The second floor of an
Old building on Main
Probably built when
Lincoln spoke at Gettesburg
Refurbished from a derelict
A suite that speaks of grandma's house
High ceilinged oversized rooms varnished
Wainscot dark scarred spotless
Wiring tastefully exposed
As a necessary afterthought
Brass bed with quilted covers
over a feather soft mattress
that comforts like a hug
Chenille sofa and easy chair
all reclining of course

Your descriptions are so vivid that I could see each detail as narrated. Such a comfortable and welcoming place. You must feel good entering a place which has stood for so long and must have a history of its own. Lovely!

I envy you having found such a place still . . . they are almost all gone now (and how many of them were called the Dew Drop Inn). Now we have cookie cutter chains of hotels and motels where every room is the same no matter what town you're in, Wi-Fi and cable porn, polyester and plastic, a window looking out on the interstate.

Nice. Your work is so descriptive in setting scenes. If I came across this making an online booking I would be happy to go there. I need a mattress that hugs. lol.
