The forties hold a special fascination for me. The movies and music still seem magical.

Songbook Reverie

I'm in the mood for love
Charmaine
I'll be seeing you
A foggy day in London town
Lets face the music and dance

We'll climb a stairway to the stars
Stardust and smoke gets in your eyes
While Bogey tells Ingrid
All or nothing at all
As time goes by

We'll dream a little dream
Of Harlem nocturne
Night and day
Long ago and far away
I remember you
The way you look tonight

What is this thing called love

Que sera sera

Nice, Joe. That was great music for a (relatively) great people. Unfortunately, we're not those people anymore.

As you may be aware I am a musician but one of my loves is old musicals - performed in many Cole Porter revues - you made me smile to think of my old salad days:-) A few years ago we did a performance on 40's musicals and it was the greatest fun, thank you for taking me back

This brings back a lot of good memories . . . I can still hear the original versions of most of these great songs. They really really don't write them like that anymore. Cars go by blasting rap crap and I realize that the sweet sentimentality of love and loss has been lost too, no longer do "the fundamental things apply as times goes by."

there was a time before the censors got a hold of movies that they seemed to reflect a reality that was later lost. i wonder if this is what you respond to.

it seems like, from my point of view, it was another world, somehow better, though harder, less trivial.

"i'm in the mood for love." always.
