Simply... Me

Long lazy shadows
Fading gently to black
To close an easy day

Where neither tragedy
Nor triumph intruded
On my quiet sense of
Being

Where mere existence was
The process and the goal
Achieved by simply
Being elementally me

Unmarred by news or world
Affaires or even hints
Of odium from elsewhere
Beyond my garden chair

Tomorrow will reveal itself
Without my preparation

Tonight I am at rest

The first part of this poem got my knees to buckle ...
so great.

Then it did some explaining, which the poem didn't need, but it ended great, still, so ... wow. Love it from beginning to end*

You portray that feeling of everything being alright with the world and yourself, blissful, I wish you many more of those days.

I like days like that, where it is just essence and although you know the world is out there, you are there in yours, enjoying the sun, the atmosphere - we all need those times, especially in a busy world where time and events are always pressing in on us.

I enjoyed Josephus x

You describe a day few are blessed to have and wise enough to know how to appreciate. Perhaps that "being elementally me" is the reward for enduring as long as we have. I think your phrase says it better than even Thoreau's "simplify, simplify."
