Ramblings 498

It's ok to talk about your problems,

Or how you're teetering on the ledge.

In fact, most everyone encourages it.

However, make sure that it doesn't

Bring discomfort or helplessness to

The listener 'cause if that happens

You can be sure you'll be dropped

Like a hot potato landed in their hand.

So, talk away, but always remember:

They don't truly want to hear that stuff.

this brings to mind these lyrics:

"Sad, deserted shore, your fickle friends are leaving
Ah, but then you know it's time for them to go
But I will still be here, I have no thought of leaving"

that's from "who knows where the time goes," written by sandy denny

personally, i have no thought of leaving ~~~

No, they don't. Most people have enough problems of their own.

Ah yes, that eternal minefield of what to share and what to keep private - glazed eyes or an insincere comment - maybe we all should learn to listen more - sadly empathy is not taught in schools
