WENT AWAY by Ann Wood

WENT AWAY
He's gone, quietly! Without a word even!
Where are your beautiful eyes now?
And we all prayed only for health,
instead, we now grieve for you.
Will your grave be an everlasting home?
And we caress a marble picture?
Why didn't you say goodbye before you left?
Why didn't that pass us by?
What about you? Is there a flame?
Or is darkness your sister?
Do you have a craving for your hunger?
And who shall take thee by the hand?
He left without time! Where are our dreams?
Leave us alone here on earth!
How to bring life back to our days,
how our hearts suffer so much for you!
