Once I were a tree proudly standing standing tall erect proud in the forest
My roots firm in soil of the forest along with my kith & kin
They took an axe to me - took me down
Cut split & spliced me
Turned me - turned me into planks for fancy flooring - log cabins
What had I dun to you please tell me why? I'd like to know!

I gave you wood for flutes to play your music & dance too
Fruits & nuts when you were hungry - even clothed you when you were cold
Gave you shelter from the storms - gave you a home
Cleaned the very air you breathed - I did not complain - begrudge you at al
You took & took - more than you would ever ever need from - me & mine
SO why are you killing me?

Every time I see a tree cut down I feel I die a bit myself. You’ve described very adroitly why I feel the way I do. Well done, Ken
