KILLING TIME

Shh someone's always listening,
To the thoughts inside my head.
Like a songbird singing,
When its time for bed.

Night heralds the wake up call,
Just like the way Niagara falls,
With thunderous applause,
The opening of locked doors.

Its not safe to go out,
Daytimes anymore.
They're Always watching,
Listening to the scratching,
Of the shoes upon the floor.

I saw them once in daylight,
Standing. It gave me such a fright;
They should have somewhere to go.
The day pushed on quickly,
Where it used to travel slow.

As I watched hidden,
I think I counted nine.
Then the horror of why hit me;
They were Standing,
Waiting, killing time.

I tried to tell the others, They laughed.
At the reasoning I tried to tell.
But I'm much, Much happier
Being locked within my padded cell.
I'm waiting to see what happens next;
Only time will tell.
