Widower

Standing askance,

staring – staring

into the mirror.

From now on

all alone,

half a pair of scissors.

How sad! You convey so much feeling with the minimum of words and a heart rending image at the end. Loved it!

Such as a piercing image - half a pair of scissors. Hauntingly sad! Reminds me of the great Chinese poetic tradition, especially of Li Bai and Han Shan.

Half a pair of scissors Dougie,
That would be the saddest cut off all

I particularly like the analogy of the scissors, Dougie. Nicely done.

Well done, Dougie. You've written a poem which is said, but not mawkish.

Powerful image at the ending. Reminds me a bit of Asian poetry.
