For the women I love

When You Smiled At Me

From the first time we met
When you smiled like that

Your face aglow with pure joy
As if you found a lost toy

My heart raced and I knew
I had a special time new

That spoke like no words
Could ever put forward

I felt from that time on
That by chance we won

A lasting place for our hearts
To rest at last for time lost

The clock is shorter Now
Emotions once hoarded

Become more urgent
To feel what god sent

Where once I was hesitant
To follow a blessed chance

Faith placed me in your wake
Feeling a spiritual taste

Of what our journey foretold
As a future we saw forward

Like a walk in the memorial rain
Steps in the sandy domain

Duck eggs on a boat
A crippled seagull afloat

Where life begins anew
Memories of dreams

We create that are ours
To a life that spans lost tears

Love is quite definitely a 'many splendoured thing'. :)
Enjoyed your choice of similes, they are fresh and new.
