A poetry prompt for a superlative speech.

Superlative, What?

Superlative, What?
I scratch my greyed hair
Floundering through memories of plots
Counting down each pair

Is it this one? Nope
Maybe its the other one, nope
Each successive one nope
Memories scraped for scope

A final conclusion is attained
Distorted by thoughts years old
Reflected by a rolodex sustained
Carving out beliefs frozen cold

The only excellence left
Is a cursed blessing of awkwardness
From one whose speech is swept
Speaking foot in mouth coarseness

Awkward and aware physically, socially
Falling gracefully down stairs
While saying I am fucked totally
Landing luckily aware

With head intact and damaged knee
While still attending first grand daughters
Arrival riding unbended knee pleas
In rear seat I cover, leg contained is hotter

Yet still making it despite the pain
Being awkward forced persistence
Else how else was I to attain
What is needed to travel the distance

So if it’s a superlative trait, its persistence
How is that defined?
It’s surviving awkwardness with perseverance
In a way that is gracefully unrefined

To write such a carefully constructed poem that flows this naturally, is so cinematic, and such a pleasure to read, takes . . . persistence!

New goal: achieve graceful unrefinedness. And the new year is half year away, still! 😊🙏🕊️
