I don't know! Where does poetry come from? The very core of you? Or does someone whisper in your daydreams?

BAD BOY'S LAMENT

To all the people I have hurt -
Some more than others -
I send my sincere regret.
You should know you never
Leave my mindful thoughts...
I will never forget.

I hope that time has made
A softer resting place
For your memories of me.

Were it even possible
To relive those moments
Then of course I would
Live it all quite differently.
My tongue would be ever loving...
If I ever could.

If it is a consolation
Can I tell you that
You have made me better.

I am grateful for what
Our interaction taught me.
That we breathed the same air
And counted the same seconds,
It's a miracle and a delight
To have been with you there.

Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien? I've always though that to be a facile sentiment; to have lived is to have had some regrets, surely. I know I have my share, and can fully emphasise with your poem Allen.

Interesting poem. I think you’ve struck a universal chord in this piece. We all have regrets about encounters where we acted in a less than positive fashion with others. Acknowledgement of that is healing.

Well done
