Inspired by "The Hidden Words" #38, Persian and the musical version: "Thy Cage" by Arlen Yanch.

Burst

Little girl said "I will change the world"
All the adults nodded sagely and said "yes, you will"

Little girl grew up

but changing the world takes multitudes
entire generations worth of little girls and little boys
dramatically, drastically being different, better

Than those sagely, nodding adults who raised us

Little girl became a survivor
every day fighting, battling for scraps in a world where she is the lucky one
every day change and wisdom slipping through her fingers
as fast as the years slip past her

Little girl with a barren womb
Little girl fighting for the smallest glimpse of happiness

Little girl, put your Armour on
Burst your cage asunder
Put yourself aflame

Leap into dramatic, drastic self-change

Arise as Wisened woman

Sometimes growing up is difficult enough.
Adulthood is a different world.

Amazing poem! I think the transition from Little Girl to Wizened Woman couldn't have been done better.

If I may, I feel like the poem is a bit TOO lofty, you know? And could work from some human details. I mean to say its too grand and could stand to come down on earth and focus truly on the titular little girl as a person rather than just a symbol, but hey! That's me.
