She Knocked On The Door
She knocked on the doorRacket paw invoked
Scratch alert Provoked
My sleepy presence poured
Her morning repast from a can
While she impatient paced
Between my legs she strayed
Gobbled as if it were the last stand
But the paw is heard no more
The 6:30 pet alarm has ceased
As I awake I hear silent unease
Distracted by an expectant core
Pause for a moment and listen
Alert at last
Aware the knock is a recent past
No more paw door to christen
