You may also remember those days - it depends on your age and your fortune, as so much of Life does.

TIME TO REFLECT

Between our joy and mild distresses
We quaffed back our hot chocolate
Watched the girls in Summer dresses
Paid pennies to hear the latest songs
Ate those toasted stringy cheese slices
Sometimes said our fond 'so longs'
To those who braved the wide wide World
And left our little coffee-bar fold
To remain ensconced, behind, unfurled.
Listened to "I want to hold your hand"
Or sang along, a discordant bunch, to
Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
There were not many darkening thoughts.
Life was on the whole quite good
We were so blithely unaware of aughts
That would, as the ancient saying goes
Allow the mysterious and overgross Ox
To come and tread upon our virgin toes.
Looking back they were very good years
Episodes I might like to live again
To avoid these times of adult tears.

Warmly and reverently speaking of a time that was happier to be in. I enjoyed this

If I work at it, I can remember some of my childhood pleasures. It would be nice to (be able to) revisit them. I also have memories of childhood miseries. I don't have to revisit them. They've remained close at hand.

The poignancy of looking back comes through so well. Age and perspective add a sweet/sentimental touch.

Your fingers must have been light on the keyboard, this has a gentle touch, Allen.
