inevitably lin is awakening to her sexuality

hooking-up sterile   where's the appeal

the suggestiveness   an invasion of her mind-space   

her sanctity   the notion of intimacy unwanted

yet   there it is   the clarion call   the bait

she knows what's what   small comfort

as she looks about   imagines him or her

or they or them smashing her lips as media depicts

clothes ripped off   primal instinct obeyed

coupled with the stepping out of oneself as witness

observer   critic   voyeur   the breaking down of self  

laying wide open   vulnerable   willing and unwilling

knowing   somehow   she isn't ready

that the elegance   the perfection    of her own moment

is to be protected   understood   not handed off

casually or otherwise   knowing once taken

or given   there is no going back   the cost too great
