Every day of late
Even when awakening
It is raining today
A reign of bigotry
A reign of hate
A reign of idolatry
It is raining today
Signs displayed openly
Ignored thinking it is passé
Believing it is not likely
It is raining today
Contrived cruelty
Has become events seen daily
Observed with passive lucidity
It is raining today
White washing history
With authoritarian fairy tales
While anxiety and loss is an allegory
It is raining today
Fact is fiction up is down
Lies are truthful forays
Designed to define an orange crown
It is raining today
Sunlight is eclipsed
By carefully planned displays
Of defined chaos that exists
Where white is right
Where brown is wrong
Where everything else is a blight
With no hope of beliefs atoned
Where being old is a death sentence
Who have outlived their usefulness
As such have no means of repentance
Blinding bling hides the ugliness
Where only straight white males
Have opportunities to access
Rights of human dignity
Wrapped in Christian dress
Whose control is deemed godly
Force feeding toxic theology
Brazen attacks against any parity
While we see diminished privacy
While it is raining today
While it is raining every day
While we fight to see the sun again
While our anger burns hot strains
Meant to evaporate the mist
Where darkness fades to dusk
The sun shines rays of bliss
And the rain no longer disrupts
