The Serpent in Our Garden

Tempts:
sneaking into consciousness,
creeping stealthily
(Come on... bite the fruit)

Betrays:
Our Mirror of Existence,
where we are Bare Naked,
(Ha, ha, ha...)
and Blushing with Shame.

Punishes:
Castaway
in the world,
Where Perils and Danger lurk.
(Finally! I'll catch them all!...)

The Serpent, with icy eyes, stared
And from his viperous tongue
The following words sprang forth:

"I am eternal Death,
Whoever comes to me will be condemned forever,
in the darkest regions of the deep abyss,
Where no light reaches nor hope exists,
Buried under trillions of tons of fear and pain.
Be careful, for I am honest, and I will be here waiting for you".

...And with a loathsome smirk, he fell silent.
