Sultan

Oh, black and shining Sultan,
with your yellow gooseberry eye,
I saw but did not hear you,
as you silently stalked by.

Your slippered feet caress the dust,
you move with sinuous grace,
and small birds scatter –
when they see your enigmatic face .

Your claws are sheathed in rubber,
beneath your velvet paws;
I take you in my arms and hear
a million-minute saws.

Oh, black and shining Sultan,
With your gleaming gooseberry eye;
the world plays second fiddle,
as you serenely walk by.

Another good'un. Thanks for sharing this. Was Sultan Sally's cat I wonder? It reminded my of my Ludo, also black (in daylight, brown in the sun like a bear - but a gentle giant.) Blessings to you, Sultan Jasper, Ludo, Poppy and crew. Allen
