GILDING THE SOUL

We spend so much time searching
For what has no calorific value
Has no enriching energy
That when we find the gold
The feeling is so intensified
The reward gilding our souls.
Maybe that is what should be
Like realising value from loss
Joy from perceived pain.
Our lives juggled by hands
We cannot see or feel...
Until they are ended?

For me those moments are rare and memorable. Having said that, there are such moments everyday, but you have to look for them, they don't always present themselves.

I appreciate this poem, Allen. It's a lesson to be aware, to look for unexpected "eureka!" moments.
