Some confessions wait years to be spoken,
resting quietly between silence and longing.
One fragile moment finally set it free.

The Confession I Never Meant to Make

I did not mean to confess—
not to you,
the forbidden one.

As always,
I rested in the shelter of your arms,
breathing the quiet sweetness
of your honeyed breath.

My heart repeated its warning
a thousand trembling times—
after this, nothing
will ever return to normal.

Still,
when I thought sleep had claimed you,
I stepped forward
against my own caution.

Just once—
a feather-touch of lips.

Then your eyes opened.

Oh—
caught.

Yet in that moment
the fear slipped from my chest.
If I was already seen,
why hide any longer?

So I let the truth rise:

Eight years of silent loving.

And with that confession
came its quiet ending—
the final breath
of my unrequited love.
