Observations on a lovely spring day.
Tulip magnolia blooms
Spread a white tinged lavender glow
Purple crocus petals
Ride bold green stalks
Yellow burnt edge buds
Have yet to spread
A pruned rose brush shows
Results of expert care
New growth on trees and bushes
Reach towards a warming sun
Bird song melodies sprinkle
Notes vividly as a choral symphony
The muddy Yadkin has filled
From its winter hibernation
The sun glows softly over the treetops
With a gradual bluing of the sky
A bright glimmer of sunlight
Pulses through a sprawling tree
Herons stand at the waters edge
Waiting for a fishing moment
A solitary duck swims
In the quiet Yadkin waters
While quiet hymns of nature
Harmonize on a daily morning ritual
An aging Pekingese sleeps soundly
On an equally aging lap
Her partners leash
Laying in an empty bed
On this early spring morning
