One of my personal favorite poems of mine rewritten as a song lyric. I am not sure it works, but it’s worth the exercise.

Her Tree (Lyric)

Verse 1
Her tree is the tree of knowledge
Inspired, grows gracefully tall
Her tree is the seed of inspiration
That quietly questions all
Her tree is the flow of grace
Dancing to her own song
Her tree lives eternally
As her roots grow strong

Chorus
Her tree is the tree of knowledge
That actively questions all
Her tree is living inspiration
Cast free from shackles call

Verse 2
Her tree is a branch in the wind
Reaching for a nourishing sun
Her tree whispers despair
Wilting in frosts of dawn
Her tree survives in dreams
where future spirits are calm
Her tree is quixote
Fighting the woodsman's brawn

Chorus
Her tree is the tree of knowledge
That actively questions all
Her tree is living inspiration
Cast free from shackles call

Verse 3
Her tree is the land
Planted between her roots
Her Tree is waiting
For a care taker's salute
Her Tree is listening
As hope wind whispers
Her tree bears fruit
Walking on forest slippers

Bridge
Her tree's gifts
Falls to questioning needs
Her tree seeks desire
To refresh her loving pleas
Her tree seeks knowledge
Cast free from abusive decrees

Chorus
Her tree is the tree of knowledge
That actively questions all
Her tree is living inspiration
Cast free from shackles call
