Another long night

wake in the dark
fear sharp as frost
a world gone quiet
with friends long lost
memories thinning
threads worn through
forget this, forget that
what once felt true
I wander the hours
with a face that shows
the hollow places
no one knows
yes, I look lost
yes, I look alone
the map has faded
the path overgrown
but even in this
confusion of days
where morals drift
and meaning strays
some small ember
still holds its glow
a stubborn warmth
that refuses to go
and though I feel
I’ve had my time
the story isn’t finished
in this rhyme
