I have the need to write, a compelling urge. Trying to express my being so others might can understand me. I want to understand them. But, I know most don't really care and it doesn’t really matter. Somehow, it helps me.
was a democrat
And my dad
A Republican.
And myself ?
I was in the parties
Of both of them.
I'm still best of friends
With my college dorm roommate
I got lost with
In the Appalachians-
She just sent an open invitation
To visit her in the US Virgin Islands
Where She lives.
We traveled in
Our different paths
In our different ways-
But always stayed connected.
She's like a sister to me
And these political schemes
Has put our friendship
To the test.
We have weathered it and won.
And I will always be her good friend.
She's suffered much when her husband
Ended his life with a bullet from a gun.
Recently, she sent me
an electric light waterfall
Reminds me of our cyclic friendship--
I hope to see her before our lives are over-
It's a miracle we're still friends,
Almost like my parent's marriage.
