The Comedy of Time
No matter how tumultuous the pastThe years will shape eyes to look back fondly.
Days always seem kinder after time’s passed.
Even if youth was filled with eyes downcast,
When old those eyes will weep for memory
No matter how tumultuous the past.
Even if great sadness you have amassed
The flow of time will wash them to the sea.
Days always seem kinder after time’s passed.
Even those who hold to their rage, steadfast,
May catch themselves, one day, in reverie
No matter how tumultuous the past.
There’s nothing foul enough that is so vast
That time can’t make cleaner eventually.
Days always seem kinder after time’s passed.
But why’s it so? This oftentimes I’ve asked
Yet found no answer to this comedy:
No matter how tumultuous the past
Days always seem kinder after time’s passed.
