Icarusting, Icarusted, Wait till you Hear the Icarest
Never-mind my suffering, toss it outThe door and let dust claim it whole. I think
I’m more than tears I’ve cried. I’ve faced the brink
And walked barefoot backwards. I’ve come about
A new way of living, carry a stout,
Hard heart still light enough to swim not sink
The deep end of sorrow. My eyes don’t blink
When flying through the sky. Full lungs, I shout
But then you come and call, your words a hook
That tightly hinge my heels and pull me down.
I try to fight, resist, but still I fall—
Full force— Find you can’t even deign a look.
Instead, you prance merrily around town.
I laugh. My eyes, too dry to cry or bawl.
