Flood Poem: 8/27/26
Another number on the news grows largeAnd larger still. Another year has brought
More death onto your screens. But do you care?
No, you’ll message and ask, oh, how are you?
I heard about your country’s floods. I hope
You’re safe, then go right on your AI app
And turn your face to anime. Spare me.
You don’t care. You won’t care. The global South
Will die and turn to hashtags on Twitter
Or X as Elon Musk has made it be
In his spaceship as he flies off to Mars.
The rest of you will watch the hashtags grow
From countries far to cities close, until
The next hashtag or reel or TikTok you
Will make and share will be your family dead.
