We, the generation of the 20th century TRANSLATED BY ANN WOOD
We, the generation of the 20th centuryWe, the generation of the 20th century,
went through the nightmares of war,
hardened to be a real man
with strict punishments and slaps.
We, the generation of the 20th century,
went through the electric current regime,
hardened to be a real man
with the hard chords of rock...
We wrote our own homework
and did not know what a private lesson was,
our school boards were dusty,
but we graduated excellently every term.
We wrote with chalk
on the blackboard,
but in our souls there was peace
and goodness from the fairy-tale world.
We knew what a blue helmet was
and fear of nuclear missiles,
but we believed that power is a caress,
expressed in the words of poets.
We went to school on foot,
in groups - two, three,
for knowledge and learning - with longing,
even if it was a frosty winter.
We, the lost generation,
remain a closed page,
we go away, unfortunately,
some beyond, some abroad.
But we were people, very human,
we sang every song with love,
and even in hatred and dispute,
we were still human...
