Robbie was a hero yesterday- saved his daughter and another girl from drowning
Never Take Life for Granted
Friday, we took 2 cars to Wrightville Beach. Wade and I in our Expedition and Robbie, the twins and Legend in the Maxima. We just got back at 1pm. I am tired. I have verses in my head but can't pull anything out with cohesiveness. yet. Last minute booking at a more affordable rate is impossible the time of year. We lucked up and got 2 rooms at the Hilton in Wilmington. It has a very nice pool. Wrightsville Beach is my least favorite but probably more fun for the kids. There are many people here--too many. It takes forever to drive to it and also it is a parking your car hell hole. Also, part of the beach was closed due to a sand flea infestation. Fortunately, we went to the part that was not near it. The Atlantic Ocean was warm and felt great. But the problem is the dangers to weak swimmers or those who can't swim. This area has sandbars that is effected by strong riptide currents, winds and tides. Robbie saved our granddaughter and a friend she had made from drowning yesterday. I thank God he was nearby them and had the strength. They had waded out to the sandbar when there was less wind and the tide was out. Then it changed and the water became unexpectedly over their heads, even on the sandbar. The current got stronger. I like the lake much better. I am so aware of how this could have ended up being 2 drownings and I'd be writing about my granddaughter's death today instead. I never take life for granted. Never.Diary by Clara Mae Gregory
