Cronos/Kronos/Uranus
I’m just requesting basic decencyFor when you deign to talk to me. You’ve been
So cruel. I’ve felt foolish the many times
I’ve slipped into your arms still teary eyed.
One hand placed on your back, the other cupped
Below my eyes to catch and toss the tears
Before you see or hear them fall. I’m sure
You’d simply laugh that howl you make whenever
I’m sad or seem to be. It’s hard to think
You don’t hate me although you claim you don’t.
In fact, you claim to love. But what is love
For you who press the warts upon my back,
The warts you made by dragging me through dirt?
For what’s a claim that can’t be backed up by
A single kindness shown, a moment stowed
Within my brain. I search but only find
Curt words shouted or slurred. I only find
Shoves in the night and pulls toward the bed.
I only find a grin upon a face
That grows wider till teeth eclipse the lips
And then the face, and then distance, until
I’m grabbed and bit and chewed and swallowed whole.
