Today a local man posted on a community FB page about the “evil Democrats” and, once again, it got to me. I am so tired of this division. It honestly hurts my heart.


The Web

Tell me I’m evil to my face.

Don’t hide behind your device
with exclamation marks and bold type.
Say why.
Tell me what I stand for
that you find so abhorrent.

Is it that I love
without first
dividing people into groups
then drawing a circle
to exclude the ones you fear?

Is it that I believe
the needs of a hungry child
should be the priority
over the hunger of the greedy
to enrich their coffers even more?

Is it that I worry
about the future for my grandchildren,
especially my granddaughters,
when their rights are in the hands of men
who want them pregnant and subservient?

Is it that the truth I tell embarrasses you,
caught in the web of deceit
you go quiet,
afraid to see the spider
who is readying to feed?

I don’t think you’re evil.
I think you have been guided
into a web filled with lies,
the exit unclear.
I see you.

You have my sympathy.
