Mother
I live in the absenceyou left behind,
that absence
wafts me with your scent
as if you are a stranger
in the house,
watching me from a place
untouched by the sun.
My love for you
did not perish with your shroud,
it stays behind
though now of a sadder hue,
while I grow in the silence
you replenish me with.
How sometimes you walk
beside me or sit with me
and talk together
or be silent
listening
the sound of a babe sucking
and tender little heels
shuffling nearby.
It's real, it's love!
