Hate yourself

You could love just about anyone
you could be there for them
your personality’s a gem
until they’re done

Just wait a bit
until you throw another fit
and hate yourself again
run straight back into the lion’s den

To be let down gently
is such a cruel notion
because they planned it intently
with the fishes, you’re thrown back in the ocean

Yet you still chase that feeling
even when you’re not done healing
and when they inevitably leave
again you start to grieve.
