In The Balance
An Englishman whines in his London cafe,And grumbles at how the Americans play.
"You’ve turned on your friends!" is his favorite cry,
Yet major world politics pass the man by.
He wants the Yank’s money and shields for a song,
Too smug and too stubborn to see he is wrong.
He preaches on matters an ocean apart,
Yet misses the flaws of his own bleeding heart.
The critics in London still whine and complain,
Ignoring the billions they sent down the drain.
They call it betrayal and preach of the past,
But unfair agreements were not meant to last.
A partner who fails to contribute their share,
Has no right to claim that the ending’s unfair.
