A story of hope...

this is the story
of a sad little ghetto girl
let's call her Jane...thirteen years old

you see
Jane is a very clever girl
but things are not going well

she is the youngest in a family of six
two brothers...a sister..mum and dad
dad is in prison...doing time for robbery

her mother works hard every day
to put food on the table
she has no time for the children

her two brothers joined a gang...one got killed
the other keeps his father company in prison
her sister killed herself in tragic circumstances

Anne..her sister...met a man...dropped out of school
only fifteen years old...six months pregnant
the man said he had nothing to do with the pregnancy

Jane looks on...overwhelmed by what is going on
her young impressionable mind tells her there is no hope
but an inner voice urges her to keep working hard

she needs to do whatever she can
to avoid slipping into the world of drugs..sex..and violence
with focus...discipline..dedication and prayer she can make it

Jane...things look dark right now
you feel as though you are alone
but keep your head up...better days lie ahead

la tristesse
this poem brings the thousands of miles of distance between us into a very sharp and acute perspective and makes me realise that we are not so far apart after all. the same thing goes on over here and i think that your poem is an excellent illustrator of a global problem.

Phyllis J. Rhodes
We need to make Janes days better. We need to get her out of there! There is hope. Get her out of the pit of hell she's been existing in. There must be a way. Lets pray for Jane, that someone knows what doors to knock on, what papers to fill out, what teacher, what social worker, what Sunday School teacher, what coach, what relative has the key to Janes future. Lets' each pray as we read Jane's story. "God make Jane's story a success story that will shine like a beacon to all the other Janes who feel as though there is no hope." Amen

a very heart felt in the read..
to go through such tragidy's..
to have hope faith and always go with your innervoice!! powerful..write...

incredibly raw and real
you have told a story that is not uncommon in this world, though we all would like to just pretend that this kind of life does not exist...you tell it with authenticiy and you ice it with hope...something we all need in this world
