I sold my soul

We went driving up a peak
When my tires started to squeak
The car lost control
And started to roll
Fifty feet falling
My love came calling
Everything began to spin
I could taste metal and tin
After hitting the ground
I went out and found
My love lying
I started crying
I never got to say I love you
Then came the rescue crew
They took my love away
Even though he was gone he continued to stay
In the night he was in my dream
Right beside a lovely stream
He told me he loved me and that he had to go
I tried to keep hold of him but time seemed slow
He went away in a flash
All because that one car crash
He was gone and he sold his soul
Just to tell me he loved me before he paid his toll

Phyllis J. Rhodes
A terribly sad and tragic story told in an honest, meaty poem. Write, write, write. Everytime you feel the pain, write. You have not sold your soul, you are sharing it with all your readers.
