A comedic poem about technicality.

The Technical Poem

The Technical Poem that I am now writing
Is shedding an ounce of the dullness on lighting
The guides and the rules for a crafty success
This is the way that their teaching the best

The first two are A's with a pattern to pair
The last ones are too, but with B's not A's there
And all of the verse has a pattern to match
But if not, good Sir, then this work you will scratch

Make sure it is ringy, make sure it fits nice
You can't make a masterpiece rolling the dice
Make sure it's important, and message it well
Or else then my son your good work goes to hell

Don't slouch on the imagery, make them adore it
But couch on the imagery, critics will snore it
Repeat some good pieces and find them a place in
Your little rum tum that they all are amazed in

Give it a backbone, a moral or story
And for all that is holy, give it metaphor glory
Don't make it tiny, and don't give it pages
You just make it right and you will hear the rages

Once your allusion to some famous playwright
Is locked in your technical poetic freewrite
Then friend now you tend to go mend with a send
And friend you will tend to come halt to an end.
