Midnight Blues

I rest my little eyes on my little pillow
How comfortable this little bed is...

Hmm...

Hm.. eh..

Huh?

You hear that?

Lift my sheet up from my lap
Land on the ground with a little tap
And tip-tap-toe to where I hear...
Stay there, would you, Teddy dear?

Trumpets and crashes tish tashing a beat
Piano chords whipped in a harmony sweet
Where does it come from, this beautiful tune?
As both of my eyes start to dart 'round the room

Cymbolwide crash and resumes now for more
As dark as it is, I proceed to the door
And open to see, at my pleasant suprise
A crowd full of people with their cheers and cries

And drenched in the light, on the stage to the left
Is a man with a sax just as big as his cleft
Taking the stage after the former act
He opens his lips and he leaves his eyes cracked

Bears us a grin, and he takes a huff in
And blows, what a note!, what a way to begin
His face is so fixed on great focus and style
As he darts to a mind-soothing solo a while

His fingers are rippling across with the straves
And crash at a beat like the ocean and waves
His music, the mist that updrifts from the sea
And settles no more, flies forever free

In come the tips and the taps of the drums
Along with the bass and it's hand-me-down strums
Reminds me of winter, the birds flocking by
They cruise on down south, and no one knows why

But here I am cruising on a gust of quintets
Unable to sink by men's guns or their nets
Lie on my back as I riff through a cloud
And take back to flight when my windblow gets loud

I soar far above any God could have reign!
Pound out those keys, my, you drive me insane!
And settle down smooth, like you cats always do
Turns my face red while it turns my mind blue

Why, now you're so quiet I can hardly breathe
All of my soul seems to set with relief
Out of the colors and into the dark
Back to my slumber I kindly remark

Boy teddy, man you should have seen that
Inside my closet, I purred like a cat
Yawning, I flutter without an eye lash
And fall back asleep with a subtle crash
