life is not all about politics

Autumnal Hues

Colors to die for," she said.
They are to die for,
in Al Gore's home town.
The river is to die for too ...
as if flowing,
through a Norman Rockwell painting
in The Fall in Carthage.
She's marrying another man.
She's already been to Carthage.
The light is fading in The Dusk ...
and the colors...
they are so subtle -- lava red,
match flame yellow,
ochre, and ...
even the color of blue corn chips...
mocking the absurd search for love
amid the hundred signs
which say, "Al Gore for President."
