It could never be

I caught a thought in a wisp of smoke
That entwined around a red roses throat
The scars she adorned were clear and so deep
The thorns she wore she said i could keep
But beware of the path that leads to my heart
For i am not myself i have forgotten that part
Yet still she seduced with tears in her eyes
Forbidding my soul a last chance to deny
A wonder that challenged the stars of the night
The fabric, the essence, the meaning of life
And dancing in memories of wine and old song
We twisted the future and tried to belong
But our chains were too heavy and the surface too thin
To carry her dreams and the weight of my sins.

Wow! bookmarked indeed. Stunning work Rik. Those final two lines the essence of doomed lovers, but there is always a rock to cling too and sins can be washed away imo. We all deserve love. Smiling at you, Tai a trier till the end.
