Some memories just need to be preserved, and passed down, from generation...to generation...

Making Memories

Life...flits quickly by
It's tentative at best
And so today I capture it...
I know that I've been blessed

We're counting down 'til Christmas
There's a task for each and all
It's time to bake our cookies
As the snowflakes softly fall

Let me save the scents of sugar and spice
Cloves, and ginger too
Molasses and brown sugar
A handful of cranberries too

Let's lovingly mix together
Then knead, chill and roll
To take shape in cookie form...
The contents of this bowl

Those tiny little people
The angels and the tree
The Santa and the reindeer
All cut so lovingly

Let me capture all the love
That in this kitchen dwelt
Among the cookie cutters
That all among us felt

As life flits quickly by
Let me please preserve this day
As one of those remembered
In a very special way

Let me pass on not just recipes
But thoughts of love that flow
As cherished childhood memories
Of Christmas, cookies, and snow
