Exodus

You started over yesterday
despite the fear of a falling sky
and a gathering storm
that would blow me back where I came from

In dirty rain the sky was so grey
your expression was obscure
Does anybody else here feel half alive
let's divide and leave it to die

You let go of my hand and left me speechless
There's nothing left to convey
although I never wanted you to say

Au revoir
Perhaps we'll meet again some day

Peter J. Kautsky
very appropriate title. Exodus -- freedom for one, pain for the other. The poem places one in an environment of utter despair in the impossible position of being "half alive."
