This afternoon...

Clouds

Great plumes of cloud rise
with sunlit orange tints
in perfect natural contrast
against the cold, blue southern sky.

Their majesty
highlights the tackiness
of the shopfronts
of this small coastal town
in which I live.

I can’t stop looking at the clouds.

Peter J. Kautsky
had a similar experience recently inspiring my poem, "White Clouds." I envy those who can have shops at coastal towns. The clouds tend to trivialize everything however. Pete

What a vibrant picture you've painted with just a few words. A sky like that would make most any place seem "tacky" by comparison . . . still, I'd like to be there.
