A friend criticized her own poem as "lame"; I thought it quite good, and remembered one of my exercises in intentional lameness. Here, then, is a repost of a 2010 post. It makes fun of us poets.

The Daisy Picker

Sometimes I have feelings;
Sometimes I have thoughts.
Sometimes I have
Thoughts about feelings;
Sometimes I even have
Feelings about thoughts.
When these things happen,
Sometimes I write a poem;
But then again,
Other times
I don't.

I apologize sincerely for calling this wonderful poem, "slightly lame," but it had to do with a personal correspondence we had earlier. My reaction was too hasty and I do realize the gem that this poem is, as I admire all of Rob's work. :)

Certainly more whimsical than lame . . . all of us who take ourselves too seriously at times are smiling.

I embrace my lameness! If we were all outstandingly brilliant 100% of the time life would get a little dull after a while I think. ;)

Lol ... ok, a slightly lame poem, yet very accurate about what we write here. :) Thanks for reposting.
