Catching The Light

The way she caught the light
On any given day deep inside the night
behind her eyes lurked paradise
so precious and beyond any price
that I had ever earned to pay,
attention to the little things
the way a moment takes your time away
"Nothing is written in concrete."
she once said to me
just like the Sybill or an Egyptian Sphinx
how was I to be
or ever figure out the way that she thinks?
In equations of eternal spirit
In spirited riddles like a forest of musical trees
where whispers flower growing in plain sight
into a song which sings forever sweet
"Nothing is written in concrete."
